It’s a great question. We become so involved with the “end goal” and the $$ sign that we do often overlook the fact that in spite of prospects are still people. Even if they don’t sound like someone that you would want to work with or if they are not interested -they are still people.
No matter what your company is, I believe that it can be “worked” by anyone that has a drive and passion. Perhaps your opportunity is not the right one for them, or maybe the timing is not right.
I believe this is the true reason for networking to assist one another! Your client may express a need for a service at some point while conversing with them, a service that within your networking circle of friends, you know someone that has that service and you can offer referral. Doesn’t that sound like a win/win? Some will, some won’t ….so what! You never know how you may meet that person again.
Be Respectful, be responsive and be professional. I garauntee you will be remembered for your kindness and professionalism when the time is right.
